in La Jolla

The Yates Laboratory at Scripps Research develops and applies mass spectrometry-based proteomics to answer basic biological questions. Based in La Jolla, California, our work spans method development, bioinformatics, and a range of biological applications.

Led by Dr. John R. Yates III, Ernest W. Hahn Professor in the Departments of Molecular Medicine and Neurobiology, our lab pioneered landmark advances including the SEQUEST database search algorithm, Multidimensional Protein Identification Technology (MudPIT), and the Census quantification platform.

With 1,532 publications and 150,312 citations, the lab has worked in proteomics for more than three decades, building methods to measure more of what happens in complex biological systems.
